Tip: Creating Linkable Whole Symbols Using Nested Groups

· Posted by Mike in Products and tagged , · Add a comment

This is a tip for Mockups for heavy users of symbols, that shows you how to make an entire set of objects in a symbol linkable.

While doing support this week, someone pointed out that it's not easy to just link a symbol that's a combination of elements, and wrote that they had to overlay a transparent object to make the symbol a link. While you can do it this way, there is an easier way.

Groups support links. So essentially all you have to do to make your entire symbol a link is to nest the elements in the symbol in a parent, containing group. It sounds a little complicated, but it really isn't.

Give it a try. Hope this helps.
