Mid-week Release: Finishing up Zoom

New Update (5:49pm CET): we have fixed the bug and issued an apology you might be interested in (there's a little surprise for you there)

Update (5:16pm CET): the new build was seriously broken. We have posted the previous version here if you need to roll back. A new build with the fix is coming right up. Also writing a blog post apology.

Hey. We just posted a new version of Mockups that "finishes" the zoom feature we released two days ago.

Here's what's new:

  • in Mockups on Desktop: the zoom and scroll position is remembered for each tab. Thanks so much Ben Gillbanks for starting the discussion on this and to everyone else who chimed in! As a side effect, this took care of this year-old bug report by Michael Bourque! It might take us a little while, but we get to things! 😉
  • we added the ability to pan! Just hold down space and drag around to navigate your mockup easily
  • we also added the ability to zoom in and out with CTRL+scrollwheel: up to zoom in, down to zoom out. Thanks to those who asked for it!

Who do we think we are, Photoshop? 😉

There might still some bugs, so keep reporting them and we'll fix them all up, yay!

How do I upgrade?

  • Mockups for Desktop: here (you might hit this one-time error if you haven’t updated in a while)
  • Mockups for Confluence: here
  • Mockups for JIRA: here
  • Mockups for XWiki: here
  • Mockups for FogBugz: here (onDemand customers: this will go live for you automatically in a few days)
  • Web Demo: here

Onward!

  1. Very nice! have a nice christmas time!

  2. Sounds very nice, i would love to have this option in the upcoming version!

[Peldi: I have added it to my TODO, but it will take a while…got some big fish to fry! :)]

  3. PLEASE bring back the functionality, that when i zoom out in one document, all other zoom the same! that was a nice feature for comparing mockups!

[Hi Alexander, I’m afraid no-one else liked that feature, it was considered a bug by many: http://is.gd/5xe0u – maybe we can bring the “affect all” feature back if you hold shift while clicking on the zoom buttons or something?]

  4. Can we have a bit more about how the business side of things is going in the blog? It seems to be all product related these days, which is good as it shows things are going well, but I suspect I’m not the only one reading for the start-up/business aspects. 🙂

[Hi Ralph, we’ll do a “looking back at 2009” post at the end of the year, so soon!]

  5. The panning feature is just awesome. It was the first thing that I thought of after trying the new zoom implementation.

Keep up the great work guys!

  6. Hi team, so sorry about this! You can get the previous build here: http://bit.ly/oSkrb (1.6.54) if you need to roll back from 55. Next up, fixing the bug.

  7. also not working here – pan doesn’t work at all, scrollbars or no scrollbars, tried different zoom levels..

ctrl+mouse won’t work on OSX as it’s reserved for system wide screen zooming

    [Use APPLE+mousewheel on mac]

  8. I was excited to download this, but I would like to revert. If I add a component, I am no longer able to drag the size. All I get is a hand cursor. Where can I revert.

  9. Hi guys,
Sorry to bring bad news but..
Resizing elements is not working anymore in online demo.

  10. Sorry. It works, but only when scrollbars are shown.

  11. Pan doesn’t work for me (Vista SP2)

  12. Hi guys, I feel terrible about what happened: here’s an apology http://www.balsamiq.com/blog/2009/12/17/an-apology/
