CUSB Sponsorship Update: An Initiative for Gender Equity

Hello, friends of Balsamiq!

For their summer 2019 sponsored project, our friends at CUSB Ultimate (University Sports Center of Bologna) designed an activity for high school students, called “Hacking Gender Equity". It was conducted in 7 different classes around Bologna, with students between 15 and 18 years old.

They decided to focus on one of the most discussed and challenging contemporary topics: gender equity. It's a complex and tricky topic to discuss. It's far from black and white. It wasn't easy 😊.

Nevertheless, gender equity is very important for us at Balsamiq, and we are proud of helping our community to approach this topic from more than one point of view. Last year, Peldi interviewed Sarah Allen of Bridge Foundry about How to Increase Diversity in Small Software Businesses; that interview inspired us and strongly impacted how we approach our own recruiting.

Now, thanks to this CUSB project, we have had the chance to see how these discussions have helped young male and female students to brainstorm how to better relate with each other and their teachers. For example, one class even suggested to their teacher how to organize activities to increase women's visibility in sports.

You can find a detailed description of the project here: CUSB Ultimate's Initiative for Gender Equity.
